JUNE LAKE, MONO COUNTY — November 5, 2026. Drivers using the June Lake Loop (State Route 158) should anticipate intermittent traffic interruptions on Monday and Tuesday, November 9 and 10. Caltrans District 9 reports that utility crews plan to replace poles on the stretch from Lakeview Drive to U.S. Highway 395, working approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

What does a traffic break mean?

Caltrans describes temporary traffic breaks, not a continuous closure of the entire loop. The agency estimates possible delays of up to five minutes, although actual conditions can differ if equipment or weather changes the work. Drivers heading to homes, businesses or recreation areas should allow additional time and follow field directions.

Separate northern-loop operations

The same weekly advisory also lists additional traffic breaks from Aspen Road to the northern junction with U.S. 395 during the week. Since the agency specifies no work on Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans Day, residents should confirm the actual schedule rather than assume continuous work through the holiday.

Information for visitors

Maintenance on highway infrastructure does not mean June Lake businesses or public recreation areas have closed. Before traveling, check QuickMap for roadway incidents, weather changes and active traffic controls. The distinction between planned work and verified road closures matters on remote mountain routes.
