JUNE LAKE — November 2, 2026. Mono County’s visitor information identifies June, Gull, Silver and Grant lakes as the four principal water bodies on the scenic Highway 158 loop.

A lake for different activities

The county promotes trout fishing at the four lakes, along with hiking, sightseeing and winter skiing at June Mountain. Specific fishing seasons, catch limits and gear regulations are established by California authorities and cannot be inferred from a tourism brochure.

Road and weather constraints

At roughly 7,600 feet, the June Lake community experiences snowfall and icy conditions. Drivers should verify Caltrans highway status and local road notices, especially when crossing the Sierra on Highway 395.

Responsible planning

Boat ramps, campgrounds and day-use areas have separate seasonal operating rules and fees. An accessible lakeshore in one season is not a guarantee that boating, swimming or a campground is available in November.
